Truck Parking South of San Antonio

South San Antonio carries a disproportionate share of the region's freight. The Toyota plant and its supplier park, the distribution build-out along I-35 and I-37, the Brooks corridor, and the constant flow of energy freight from the shale all push trucks through the same few miles of Loop 410 South. Parking has not kept pace. Lots that exist are either full, priced for their address, or squeezed onto parcels where backing a 53-footer means threading between a fence and a light pole.

We built south of that pressure instead of inside it. From the Loop 410 and I-37 interchange you're about 25 to 30 minutes out; from Loop 1604 South, closer to 20 or 25. That's a small amount of highway time in exchange for a paved, lit, gated yard with wide lanes, camera coverage, and a gate that opens 24/7 without an attendant.

Three routes feed the lot from the south side, which matters when one of them is torn up. I-37 to TX-97 is the fastest for anyone already on the interstate. US-281 runs straight down through Pleasanton and is the natural choice if you're coming off the 281 corridor. TX-16 through Poteet works well from the southwest side and from Loop 1604 near Palo Alto.

For south-side fleets, the value is different again. Yard space near the plants and terminals is expensive and often leased in blocks you don't need. Renting spots in a gated yard 30 minutes out lets you stage spare trailers, park bobtails, and hold equipment between cycles without signing a lease on dirt you'll only half use. Month-to-month terms mean you can scale down when freight slows.
